Family tradition asserts that William's birthday was 22nd September, 1825. Contemporary accounts of his death say he died on his birthday, the day his brother called in to see him. He married Elizabeth Lock in Jersey, Channel Island, before emigrating to Australia. William was a Blacksmith.
After his death, his widow married his half-brother.
