Biography

Amspstead was born in 1827 in Dearborn County, Indiana.

Amspstead married Mary Jane Hiatt (1829-1865) on 8 August 1850 in Gasconade County, Missouri.[1]

They had several children:

  1. Sarah Jane Ann Myers (1851-1852)
  2. Daniel Boone Myers (1853-1915)
  3. Martha Ann Myers (1856-1870)
  4. Nelson Darius Myers (1857-1878)
  5. Mary Elizabeth Myers (1857-1878)
  6. Nancy Jane Myers (1860-1862)
  7. Hiram Thomas Myers (1862-1931)
  8. Hester Asenath (Myers) Stockwell (1864-1926)

In 1850, Amspstead and his family were living in Crawford Township of Osage County, Missouri. By 1860, the family had moved to Greensburg Township in Knox County, Missouri, and there were now six children.[2]

His wife Mary Jane passed away in 1865.

Amspstead married Eliza Bailey on 8 October 1867 in Gasconade County, Missouri.[3] They had several children:

  1. Amstead C. Myers (abt.1869-1894) He was a twin of Andrew.
  2. Andrew Myers (abt.1869-1960) He was a twin of Amstead.
  3. Garret Russel Myers (1871-1965)
  4. Ruben Jacob Myers (1873-1882)
  5. Dollie Ann Myers (1876-1919)
  6. Elijah Myers (1878-1941)
  7. Effie Agnes Myers (1880-1970)

In 1870, Amspstead, Eliza, and his ten children were residing in Post Oak, Johnson County, Missouri.[4]

By June 1880, forty-two-year-old Amspstead, Eliza, and their six children were residing in Hodgeman County, Kansas. He was working as a farmer.[5]

Amspstead passed away on 17 September 1896 in Kidderville, Hodgeman County, Kansas. He was buried at Kidderville Cemetery in Hodgeman County, Kansas.[6]
