Dorothy V. Martin, 92, of Rockford passed away Sunday October 19, 2014 at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron, IL. Dorothy was born on February 25, 1922 in Adeline, IL, the daughter of Samuel and Grace (Snyder) Myers. She married Harry E. Martin, Jr. on November 17, 1940 in Iowa; Harry preceded Dorothy in death on October 14, 1981. Dorothy enjoyed playing the organ, knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Harry (Bonnie) Martin III, Thomas (Linda) Martin, Rose (Rick) Kuhl, Donald (Tamae) Martin, John (Nancy) Martin and Holly (Joe) Augustine; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; brother, Don Myers.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State St. in Rockford. Visitation will be Wednesday October 22, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial on Thursday will be in Willwood Cemetery.
