Biography

Owen Myrick was born about 1650 and died about 1700.[1]

Owen Myrick, son of Thomas, was born in England about 1630.[2]

Jan.5,1679 ,Surry county,Virginia court. Owen appoints his wife Mary as attorney.(page 113) [3]

On May 19,1681 Owen makes Elias Osborne his attorney.(page 115)[4]


Owen was listed in the 1674, 1688, 1694 Surry,Virginia Tithables. His father Thomas is living with him in the 1694, 1698 Tithable. In the 1698-1714 Tithable list His father had passed away and was not listed,but son Owen Jr. was living in his household. In this same source Owen is listed as being in the Surry County,Virginia Militia in 1687. ( page 210). He also on the 1704 Quit Rent Roll for Surry,Virginia( Page 214)[5]


Wife Joan, maiden name possibly Thorpe
He may later have married Mary Grey/Gray
Married (1) Joan (Thorpe?) and (2) Mary Green, "widow of (Sir) John GRAYE"[6]

Owen Myrick's "Tan yard" is mentioned in a 1693 will. See this page (full will; abstract posted on Simmons-1141). Will filed in Surry County. Tan yard is probably in Surry also.
