Biography

Susan was born about 1799, possibly to Owen Thompson Myrick and Elizabeth Merrick. See Research Notes.

She married on 18 Jan 1821 in Warren County to Sterling Pate Ivey, son of Ephraim Ivey. She may have been about 22 years old. They had 1 child together:

  1. George Washington Ivey

She may have passed away sometime between Dec 1821 and Dec 1826. George was born in 1821 and Sterling remarried in 1826. It is not known where she is buried, but presumed to be in Warren County with the Ivey family.

Research Notes

Found on 9/5/2016 on Rootsweb. An email written by James W Mercer, Sr. (wmercer@juno.com) on 1 Nov 1999 to Diane (JDixon8671@aol.com). Diane was inquiring about one of her great grandmothers who was Gillie Myrick married to Luther Lawrence Griffin. She believes Gillie was the daughter of Nathaniel Myrick. Jimmy replied with the information he had on Gillie. Further down the page, he includes information that he credited as follows: "descendancy is largely but not exclusively based on a book written by our cousin Victor R. MYRICK (Deceased 1998) entitled "Myrick Family History" and published in 1980 by McDowell Publications; 719 East 6th Street; Owensboro, NY 42301; (502)-926-3721, Permission to incorporate contents was granted October 14, 1990 by Victor Myrick to James W, Mercer, Sr., provided proper credit was provided regarding the source of incorporated portions of the book "Myrick Family History." "

In the lineage it states the following:

5- Susannah MYRICK (b. about 1799) m. 1/15/1821
sp- Sterling PATE

Searches for Susan or Susannah Myrick/Myric have been unsuccessful, other than the marriage records of Susan to Sterling.

It appears that Susannah could have been the sister of Stephen M. Myrick (1800-1857) married to Martha Feagin/Fagin (1813-1869), m. 2/25/1831 Crawford County, Ga.

According to the tree of tchca35763 on ancestry.com, Owen Thompson Myrick is the father of Stephen Myrick; however, Susan/Susannah is not listed as one of the daughters of Owen.

FamilySearch PID: LCTX-15W
Note: This record originally had Susan Myrick also married to Matthew Pate (son of John Pate and Mary Abston). Documentation for this marriage was not found. The dates of the children conflict with the marriage to Sterling and birth of George W. Ivey.
