Biography

Philip was born in 1702. He is the son of Phillip Muller and Anna Margaretha Frolich.

Jones (1985) explicitly identifies the wife of Philip Muller (Hunter #527) as Anna Margaretha Frölich daughter of Peter and Anna bp. Jan. 9 1662, who had been married to Werner Spohn (p. 983).

Jones (1985) identifies them as parents here and annotates this Philipp as Philip 2, child #6 and husband of Anna Margaretha Uhl (p. 667f).

This identification makes him one of Philip ‘1st’’s 8 children immigrating in 1709 and present in West Camp in 1710 and 1712. More documentation desired.

Recorded as father, with mother Margriet Oel, in Aug. 23 1724 Kingston baptism of Johannes, Hoes #3244.

The attribution here of Elisabeth, David and Philip is provisional. The names and dates present the least difficulty with other data. I continue to attempt to disambiguate the Philips as detailed in the following note.

In the list of the Fifth Party of Palatines that sailed July 15 1709 there are Philip Muller, wife and 2 children and Philippus Muller, wife and 8 children. (Knittle (1937) p. 268). Does the suffix indicate a son?

Unsourced Findagrave memorial says [father] Philip and wife and 8 children were aboard Capt. Johan Enrit’s ship in 1709 and that 2 of those children died on the voyage. Also listed in the memorial are 6 children: Eva, Margariet, Anna Barbara, Johannes, Johannes David and Christina. The memorial suggests wife Anna Margaretha’s LNAB was Frolich,

In mid-June 1710 was baptized [where ?] Johan Philipp Muller son of Philip, #23 in the Olde Ulster transcription of the Kocherthal records (3, p. 57). Is this the child of Philip ‘2nd’ below? This child is not clearly accounted for in the census.

In the so-called West Camp census of 1710, there seems to be one line for Philip Muller indicating 3 M >15, 1 M 9-15, 1 F >15, 1 F 9-15 and 1 F <9. Does this represent two generations? It doesn’t match other family data easily.

The New York Subsistence List(s) provide(s) additional inferences to be drawn. There (Knittle, p. 288) Philipp ‘1st’ shows 5 people >10 and 3 children <10 in 1710 and 6 people none under 10 in 1712. Thus it suggest that 2 children died and 1 turned 10 by the later date. Philipp ‘2nd’ shows 2 people >10 and 1 child in 1710 and 4 over 10 in 1712. This is complicated by the next entry for Philipp ‘2nd’s widow (Maria) with 1 person >10 and 1 child in 1712. It is not immediately obvious how to reconcile these entries.

More detail is provided in the Simmendinger Register ca. 1717 (Knittle, p. 297). There in the locality called Becksmansland by the immigrants Philipp Muhler and wife Anna Margaretha were present with 2 children.

Buried in Eastern View Cemetary, West Camp Ulster NY.

Muller-10510 and Müller-9108 appear to represent the same person because: clearly meant to be the same person

Yes Mueller is acceptable.

First the name: Müller or Muller but please not Müeller. Then the mothers. I am persuaded that the mother is the daughter of Peter Frölich. Is that agreeable?

Ruth Proffert has connected the mother to a Johann Heinrich Frolich. I do not have documentation one way or the other as I have not done the research. She does list a Peter Frolich as the father to Johann Heinrich Frolich.

With an umlaut over the u in Mueller: definitely incorrect, but without the umlaut isn't Mueller acceptable?

Muller-8742 and Müeller-2061 appear to represent the same person because: These look to be a clear match.
