Born on 11-03-1896 in Dunajow, Galicia, Austria, daughter of the late Andrew & Nasta Nagurney or Nahirna of Austria, she passed away on 03-31-1973 at the Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville, Pa. Catherine immigrated to the US on 02-09-1911 & married her husband, Alex Markanich on 08-07-1915 in Saints Cyril & Methodius Greek Catholic Church, Olyphant, Pa. by Rev. Elias Kuzie. She is survived by sons, Nicholas Markanich of Pompton Plains, NJ & Stephan Markanich, Jessup, Pa. Three grandchildren, Ann Marie & Elaine Markanich, Blakely, Pa. & John Joseph Markanich, Pompton Plains, NJ. Also a sister, Mrs. Fannie (Nagurney or Nahirna) Litwin of Ava, NY. Several nieces & nephews. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Anna Markanich in 1921, a granddaughter Mary Kay Markanich in 1960, Find A Grave Memorial Number 157104207 her husband Alex Markanich in 1965 & a son, Michael Markanich in 1971. She and her husband, Alex had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on 08-07-1965. A high mass was celebrated at Saints Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant, Pa. by Rev. Stephen Hrynuck. Interment, Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery, Peckville, Pa."
