Birth

Elizabeth was born in 1832 in Scotland. She was the daughter of John Bell Nairne1802–1874 and Elizabeth Souter 1805–1861

Marriage

She married Robert Johnston (1820-1889) in Scotland in 1848. [1]

Emigration

Husband Robert, 28, and Elizabeth, 19, arrived in Port Phillip Bay, Australia in 1849 aboard the "Lord George Bentinck". [2]

Death

She passed away on the 26th of June, 1915. [3]

Obituary

We regret to record the death of Mrs Elizabeth Johnston- relict of the late Robert Johnston, of Kilmore and Glenaroua, which occurred at her son's residence, Mathoura, N.S.W. on the 26th June, at the ripe age of 84 years. The deceased was a colonist of 66 years standing, and the mother of a very large family. Her death was due to senile decay. The deceased lady was highly respected and her death is mourned by a large circle of friends. Deceased was the relict of the late Robert Johnston, of Kilmore and Glenaroua, mother of David Johnston, Seymour; John Johnston, Broadford; Mrs Cochran, Melbourne; Mrs Steers, Sunshine; Mrs McClure, Foster; Mrs McMillan, Pucka-punyal; Mrs Parker, Glenaroua; and Wm. Johnston, Mathoura, N.S.W. [4]
