When Lewis Henry NANCE was born on December 25, 1780, in Kentucky, his father, [Lewis? or John?] Nance, was 26? and his mother, Eleanor, was 22. He married Lucy KEPLER and they had three children together. He then married Anna McKinney CALDWELL and they had eight children together. He died on November 27, 1856, in Hempstead, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Nevada, Arkansas.
"Lewis' 1st wife Lucy Kepler deserted her family in 1824 (per "The Arkansas Gazette"), and the divorce, sought by Lewis, was announced in the January 2, 1827 issue of "The Arkansas Gazette". Lucy just seems to have vanished thereafter.[1]
