Edward J. Naper was born 17 Jun 1867 at Chicago, Illinois. Edward was the son of John Naper and Augusta C. D. Hufmeyer. John Naper had been a vegetable farmer in the Chicago area and supplied fresh produce to many of the Chicago hotels. John's garden and home were near where the Palmolive building and beacon stood, about 3 blocks north of the Chicago River and 2 blocks west of Michigan Avenue. Edward was the youngest boy in a family of 5 girls and 5 boys.
