Biography

Jane Nash was born in Melbourne, Victoria during 1849. She was the daughter of Thomas Nash & Johanna Sweeney.[1]

George Smith married Jane Nash in the Free Church Manse, Hobart, Tasmania on 17 October 1870.[2][3] They had the following children:

  1. George Oliver Smith, born 3 August 1871 in Hobart[4]
  2. Martha Annie Smith, born 26 July 1873 in Hobart[5]
  3. Alice Maud Smith, born 3 March 1876 in Hobart[6]
  4. Jessie May Smith, born 30 April 1878 in Hobart[7]
  5. Nellie Maria Smith, born 28 June 1881 in Hobart[8]
  6. Clara Jane Smith, born 20 July 1884 in Hobart[9]
  7. Thomas William Smith, born 20 July 1884 in Hobart[10]

Research Notes

The 1870 wedding notice indicates that both George & Jane are from Melbourne. This matches a 1849 birth registration for a Jane Nash.
