Roger Nation, 66, of Clayvillage, died on Tuesday, the 27th day of January, 2015, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. Born in Shelby County, he was the son of Joe Nation of Clayvillage, and the late Marzetta Phillips Nation. A U. S. Navy Veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Waddy Church of Faith. A former meat cutter, he was also a stonemason and owned and operated Rockin' Roger Lawn Service. He was an enthusiastic fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Shelby County Rockets. His hobbies also included country and western dancing.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Joan Nation of Clayvillage; his daughter, Reagan Nation (Tim) of Shelbyville; his sons, Kevin Skelton (Lynn) of Bagdad and Andy Skelton (Susan) of Waddy; his brothers, Russell Nation of Clayvillage, Leroy Nation of Shelbyville, and Eddie Joe Nation (Marilou) of Clayvillage; his five grandchildren, Kristi Skelton, Amanda Skelton, Brittany Skelton, Justin Skelton, and Zachary Skelton; and his great-grandchild, Trenton Satterly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P. M., Friday, the 30th day of January, 2015, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with Reverend Gayle Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville.
