Sarah Naylor was born on 11 Jun 1812. She was the daughter of Thomas Naylor. She was christened in 1812 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as wheelwright, and the family's address as Sutton.

By June 6th 1841, Sarah was living in Thatto Heath Eccleston, and working as a female servant in the household of James Smith, a grocer. There was another female servant also in the household, Mary Alcock.

Sarah married George Ellison on 22 Jun 1845 at Farnworth Chapel in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of full age (21 or more) and lived in Sutton, and neither had been married before. George was a labourer. The bride's father wa named as Thomas Naylor (wheelwright). The groom's father wasn't named, which probably means his parents weren't married. The witnesses were Aaron Hall and Mary Ann Alcock.
