Biography

In 1730, Stephen Neal and his wife Margaret came from Northern Ireland to what is now Amelia Co., Virginia. They had 5 sons and 1 daughter, all of whom lived in what is Amelia Co., Virginia ( and all of whom probably preceded their parents). At least 2 sons and the daughter are of record as coming to Amelia Co. in 1718. One son, {George?} in his will recorded in 1738 in Amelia Co. names his father, his sister and 3 brothers, including David Neal*. Stephen, Sr.'s will was recorded in Amelia Co., Virginia in 1740. He names only his wife. The family were Presbyterians and Scotch-Irish.
