Biography

This biography is a rough draft. It was auto-generated by a GEDCOM import and needs to be edited.

1841 Census Yate, Gloucestershire, England.

Jane Neale appears to be the child of Ann Neale, who may be the widow or wife of a son of William and Frances. Without relationships or marital status, it is only circumstantial.

1841 census [1]
Village of Yate, Gloucestershire, England
William Neale, 78, Parish Clerk & Farmer, yes
Frances Neale, 75, yes
John Neale, 55, Butcher, yes
Mary Neale, 50, yes
Sarah Neale, 40, yes
/Ann Neale, 35, yes
Jane Neale, 8, No, √ [see note]
Henry Grant, 12, yes
William Alway, 5, yes
//Eliza Alway, 4, yes

Census note: The enumerator has not used the "Born Scotland, Ireland, or Foreign Parts" column as it should be used, but merely ticked all those who were born outside of the County of Gloucestershire, without any qualifications if they were born outside of England and Wales or not. Thus, Jane's entry, at first glance, appears to show her born out of the Country.

Research Notes

  • WikiTree profile Neale-416 created through the import of hemingway.ged on Nov 30, 2011 by Stephen Hemingway. See the Changes page for the details of edits by Stephen and others.

This profile was originally created with Jane being the child of William Neale and Frances Rawbone and having her married to an Unknown Alway at an unknown date.

Parish-1283 has created another Jane Neale and married her off to the above 'Thomas' Alway in 1834.

Parish-1283 chose to leave this Jane attached as a daughter so she doesn't get disconnected from the family.

Her possible mother, the Ann Neale who appears to be the head of the separate household (at the same address) in 1841, appears to be too young to be William and Frances' daughter, for her age would have been rounded down to 40, not 35.
