Elizabeth is believed to be the daughter of John Neale[1] and Grace Butler.[2]
It has been assumed by many researchers that John and Elizabeth Adams were the parents of Thomas Addams of Northampton Co., Virginia who was listed as a headright for John Neale in 1636 because Elizabeth mentioned her son Thomas who had gone to Virginia in her 1660 will whom she left 5 pounds. However, as was pointed out by Matthew Wise she said, "about twelve years ago" which would have made his setting off for Virginia about 1648 and not 1633 when the earliest record for the Thomas of Northampton Co., Virginia is recorded. There is a Thomas Adams who was a headright for a Joseph Croshaw in February 1649/50. Whether this is the Thomas Elizabeth was referring to is not known, but, the date corresponds much better than the 1630s dates for the other Thomas.

There is obviously a problem with the genealogy somewhere and to merge them now would leave out the possibility that these Elizabeths might be separate people and not the same individual at all just one of them having the wrong dates ascribed to her.
