Biography
Michael was born about 1838/40 in Ireland, possibly Sligo according to family knowledge. He was the son of Edward Naven and Mary (King) Naven.
The family then moved to Alnwick in Northumberland, England, in the mid 1840s and by 1851 they were living in Pottergate Street. Michael's father Edward worked as an Agricultural Labourer. [1]
On 14 June 1858 he married Elizabeth Grealy in Alnwick. Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward Grealy and also from Ireland, [2] [3] and by 1861 they had their own home in Pottergate and a daughter Mary Ann age 2. [4]
They remained in the Pottergate area of Alnwick all their lives, Michael working in a variety of Labouring jobs. In 1871 he was a Mason's labourer, [5] and in 1881 a Land Drainer, Ditch Digger according to family knowledge. [6] They had at least 10 children. [7] [8]
He passed away about 1911 age about 70. [9]>
