James was a miller by trade. He and Mary had seven children.[1]
James was born in 1792 in Tempo, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. He died in 1869 in Ontario, Canada. He married Mary Matilda Hillock about 1819 in Tempo, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. She was born in 1799 in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. She died on 11 Jan 1884 in Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.
James and Mary followed their son, Thomas, to Canada with the rest of the Neely family in 1844. They settled with Thomas in North Dorchester. The Neely family most likely travelled from Tempo, north to Derry and took one of the J. J. Cooke boats to Canada. Many families in County Fermanagh emigrated to Canada by travelling to Derry's port and taking one of the boats owned by J. J. Cooke to Canada
