Biography

Barbara Neil was born in 1801, the daughter of John Neil, mother unknown. In 1839 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, John wrote a will naming his son-in-law John Crow, daughters Barbara Crow and Sarah Neil.

The Neil family was from Fayette County and every indication is that she was born there. John Neil was likely the son of Joseph Neil Sr, who operated a ferry on the Monongahela River.

Barbara married John Crow about 1817, based on the birth of their oldest known child. Census records indicate they had at least eleven children and probably more.

John and Barbara both died in 1887 and are buried in Mount Moriah Presbyterian Cemetery in Fayette County.
