Biography

Catherine was born about 1849. She is the daughter of Henry Neill and Anne McInnes.

According to the petition made to the courts by Ann Neill, widow of Henry, Catherine was age 18 at the time of her father's death.^[1]

She was not the Catherine Neill, widow, who married Andrew Humphrey, but she fits with the Catherine who married Duncan McLean in 1876.^[2]

They were in Lot 31 in 1881.^[3]Also in the household was Margaret McLeain, born 1832, a widow. Both Catherine and Margaret said they were of Irish descent, so possibly sisters.

She could be the Catherine McLean, wife of Duncan, who died at age 40 in 1891.^{[4] [5]}Duncan was a widower with 4 daughters in 1891.

Not in the PEI Baptismal Index. Father Henry did not leave a will. There were administration papers for the estate of Henry Neill, Lot 24, farmer.
