Biography

Birth and Baptism
Eliza, the daughter of Charles Nelson and his wife Elizabeth, who had been married at Boston, Lincolnshire, on 1 August 1813,[1][2] was born at Boston in 1817 and baptized at Boston on 4 September 1817.[3][4]

Father's Death and Burial
When Eliza was about seven years old her father Charles died, being buried at Boston on 20 March 1825.[5][6]

First Marriage
Eliza married Richard Hallam after banns at St Margaret's church, Quadring, Lincolnshire, on 18 September 1838. Eliza was described as a spinster, of full age, occupation Servant, resident at Quadring, daughter of Charles Nelson, a Sawyer. Witnesses were William Cropley and Ann Convoy.[7][8][9]

Eliza and Richard had a daughter:

  1. Eliza Ann, born at Quadring in 1839.[10]

Husband's Death and Burial
Eliza's husband Richard died at Quadring in 1839[11] and was buried at Quadring on 30 April 1839.[12][13]

Second Marriage
Just over a year later Eliza remarried to John Cottam by licence at St Margaret's church, Quadring on 29 June 1840. Eliza was described as a Widow, of Full Age, resident at Quadring, daughter of Charles Nelson, a Sawyer. Witnesses were Francis Cottam and Ann Convoy.[14][15][16]

This was originally a conflated profile with correct data for an Eliza being married to John Bell with children shown, but LNAB and parents didn't fit with Eliza married to John Bell.
