Ira Lee Nelson was born on November 27, 1914 in Parkersburg, Butler County, Iowa, to George Nelson and Lulu Bawn, according to a "delayed birth certificate" that Ira applied for on June 2, 1942. The delayed birth certificate information was approved based on a baptismal certificate, a school record, and a Social Security card. ^[1]
