Peter was born about 1855 in Kalmar, Sweden, to Nels Peterson, a farmer, and Maria Eisberg.
Peter was a coach builder who lived at "Valhalla" in The Range, Townsville with his Danish wife Wilhelmina, whom he married in 1883 when he was 28 and she was 17.
