John Nelson is a part of US Black heritage.

Rev. John Lemon Nelson was the child of Patsey Haley Nelson and ? Nelson. He is shown on Registration No. 271, Free Negro Registry, dated February 26, 1847, along with Virginia, Charlotte, Georgianna and William Nelson. He is shown in the 1850 Federal Census, Alexandria, Virginia, with Patsy Nelson as his mother.

The 1870 Federal Census shows him married to Dolly ?, from North Carolina. His family is in Arkansas and includes John Lemon Nelson, his son. John Lemon Nelson born in 1870 is my grandfather.

I have not been able to identify who John Nelson's father is. Both father and son were traveling Methodist ministers.
