James was born about 1602. He was the son of Alexander Nisbet and Janet Gilbert, He married Janet Gibson and she died young and left 2 children John and Mary. James lived a widower the rest of his life.
JAMES son of Alexander inherited Murdochs New Testament in Scots and wrote in it in 1624 -I resauiet this buke in the yeir of God ane thowsand six honder tuenti four year at Youll.--JAMES NEISBIT with my hand He had to have been born after 1603 as he was according to a clausal added to his father testament when it was registered not of age and therefore was not allowed to be one of his father’s executors.
Alexander left his Son James Nisbet Heir to the Written New Testament, and other Relatives.--- This James was humble, meek, and very religious, but nothing of a publick Spirit. He married one Janet Gibson, who was eminently religious, bold and publick-spirited, beyond many of her Sex. She died young, and left him with two Children, a Son called John, and a Daughter called Mary. I have heard her much commended and lamented, tho' she was dead 24 Years before (1667) I was born. When he died, he left the written New Testament to his Son John, who was adorned with the humane Advantages of a tall, strong, well-built Body, and of a bold, daring, publick, Spirit. James Nesbit (note should be Nisbet) born about 1603 Scotland He had one son with Janet Gordon in 1627 (this is an error) he was not married to Janet Gordon He died in 1681 in Galston Ayrshire Scotland no documentation to back this up
