Died at the residence of her son-in-law, Eli Boruff, on the morning of Feb 21st, Mrs. Jane Mathers in her 92nd year. Aunt Jane, as she was called, was one of the oldest residents of Monroe County, having come here from Nicholas County, Kentucky, about 58 years ago. She was the widow of John Mathers and daughter of Thomas Nesbit, one of the most distinguished pioneers of the country, who previously had been an intimate friend and associate of B. W. Stone in the origin of the "Current Reformation" at Cane Ridge, KY. Aunt Jane had lived a constant Christian life for about 73 years. She was one of the charter members of the Clear Creek Church where she was burried on the 22nd. I. N. Porch officiating at her funeral. She was the mother of a respected family, two of whom, Mrs. L. B. Bray and Mrs. Eli Boruff, are still well known citizens of the county. At the time of her death she was one of the oldest citizens of the county, the oldest member of the Church of Christ. and one of the last links binding the present century to the past.
