Robert Nesbitt was married to Agnes Rankin and two of their sons Robert and Nathaniel had left Ireland and gone to Scotland to work before the death of their father. [1][2]
Robert was still alive in 1869 when son Nathaniel was married but said to be deceased in 1873 when son Robert was married in July. The death 20 Mar 1873 fits. In 1877 his daughter Mary had twin girls and her address then is given as Gillistown Ballyscullion Grange [3] the same address as on Roberts death certificate where Mary Nesbitt reported the death and said she was present at the time of death. Robert seems then to be the Robert who died 10 Mar 1873 Gillistown Ballyscullion Grange age 64 a labourer[4] Robert's death (age 64) was registered in 1873 in the Ballymena Superintendent Registrar's District.[5]
It appears that some time after Robert died Agnes then along with the rest of the children and two grandchildren they went to Scotland where her sons were living. She is found there in the Census records from 1881-1901. Agnes (daughter of Robert Rankin and Elizabeth Miller) died 1 Sep 1904 at Camlachie Lanarkshire Scotland age given as 70 but she must have been older if one looks at her age given in the census and age of children [6]
Children
Robert born about 1845 went to Scotland He married 18 Jul 1873 to Mary Paton widow of Patrick Irvine and daughter of John Paton and Mary Milmore Paton later McGurgan [7] Robert died there in 1887[8]
Nathaniel about 1847 went to Scotland married 27 August 1869 to [9]Mary Fulton 1849–1918 Nathaniel died there in 1898[10]
John born about 1855 went to Scotland died there in 1936. [11]
Jane about 1847 went to Scotland She is probably the Jane that died in 1926 Camlachie Lanark age 87[12]
Mary about 1853 went to Scotland She had twin girls 13 Apr 1877 in Ireland, Rebecca and Jemima and her address then is given as Gillistown Ballyscullion Grange [13] She is probably the Mary that died in 1913 Camlachie Lanark age 61[14]
Elizabeth about 1857 went to Scotland She is probably the Elizabeth that died in 1901 Camlachie Lanark age 41[15]

Thomas Nesbitt Sr 1843–1920 b. Co Antrim, 15 Sept 1843, (eldest son and fourth child of Robert Nesbitt by his wife Nancy Rankin; migrated to America 1866) The name of father is given as Robert on death certificate but mother unknown
Nancy Nesbitt 1850–1930 b. Co Antrim ? migrated to the USA, m. __ Brooks see research Notes She is probably the Nancy Nesbitt spinster minor married 7th Feb 1868 to John Brooks Ballymena Co Antrim [16] I have seen an abstract that says her father is a labourer and not a farmer as the Civil registration says. There could be a difference between the church record and the civil registration.

Jemima Nisbet Granddaughter 3 1878 - Ireland (died 1884[19][20] She died 1884 age 7 She gives different parents than her twin sister James Nisbet deceased and Mary Nisbet probably just to cover up an illegitimate birth.
Rebecca Nisbet Granddaughter Female 13 1878 - Ireland Rebecca and Jemima daughters of Mary Nesbitt Gillistown Ballyscullion Grange no fathers name given[23] She no doubt married Benjamin Redfern in 1899 [24] They are living at the same address in 1901 as her mother and grandmother. She gives different parents than her twin sister Robert Nisbet (deceased) and Mary Rankin probably just to cover up an illegitimate birth.
The same address Rebecca Redfern Wife 23 1878 Ireland 1901 Census 137, Crownpoint Road, Glasgow, Camlachie, Lanarkshire, Scotland[27]
Research Notes
(claimed occupation differs from above-son of Thomas Nesbitt, by his wife Jennie McDowell;) and father of Thomas Nesbitt and Nancy Nesbitt, United Presbyterian, linen weaver, later farmer, died Co Antrim Mar 1873 age 64,)
claimed to have married 1829 Nancy Rankin, born. Dundee, Forfar, Scotland 1813, who had moved to Co Antrim with her family ca 1823, died there 1 Sept 1905, daughter of Robert Rankin hosiery manufacturer.
Rebecca and Jemima Nisbet were the illegitimate twin daughters of Mary Nisbet and were born in Gillistown Ballyscullion Grange the same address as on Roberts death certificate Ballymena, Ireland. Mary had twin girls and her address then is given as Gillistown Ballyscullion Grange [28]
occupation is given as labourer on sources that are found so far in Scotland and Ireland
Nancy has been claimed born (England in 1880 census) (Ireland in 1870,1900, 1910, 1920 census ) (Scotland in Obit and death certificate) lived in USA
Mrs. Nancy Nesbit Brooks, aged 80, a well known resident of the Coaltown district, passed away in her home Monday evening after a short illness,
Mrs. Brooks was born In Scotland, October 9, 1850 and came to America when quite small and has been a resident of this district for 60 years and was one of the oldest residents in the district where she lived. She was the widow of John Brooks, and a member of the free Methodist church.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs Agnes Reynolds, New Wilmington. Robert Brook of this city: Joseph Brooks of the Mercer road, Mrs, W. J. Morris of the Mercer Road, Mrs. Margaret Sankey, Sharon. William Brooks of the Mercer road. James, Thomas and Mrs. Martha Parker, at home.
Funeral services will be hold from the family residence Wednesday at 2 p. m. D. S. T. with interment in Oak Park cemetery. [29]
She is probably the Nancy Nesbitt spinster minor married 7th Feb 1868 to John Brooks Ballymena Co Antrim [30] but fathers occupation is farmer--error???
