Son of Mabilia, daughter of Winebald de Ballon (q.v.) of North Cadbury and his wife Elizabeth, as shown by his charter for Tewkesbury; cf. Round, "Ballon" in Peerage, 195. Returned a Charta for his barony of North Cadbury in 1166. Held one fee of the bishop of Worcester in 1166 and denied the service owed on another. In 1208/9 James de Novo Mercato held half a fee of the bishop in Aust and half in Gotherington, Gloucestershire (Fees, 38-39). Henry died in 1198 leaving issue William (d.s.p. 1204) and James d.1216 leaving two daughters , Isabel and Hawise (Sanders, 68).
