Biography

Gabriel was born about 1855-1861 in Russia or Poland. He immigrated to America about 1878-1884.

On December 14, 1884, he married Rachel Moreines in Durham, North Carolina. Their daughter, Ida, was born in North Carolina in 1885.

Gabriel and Rachel had three sons born in Baltimore, Maryland between 1888 and 1891. In 1892, they lived at 1915 Christian. In 1900, they resided at 104 S. Eutaw Street. This is the same address listed for Raphael Goodman in the 1890 Baltimore City Directory.

In 1909, they resided at 1818 N. 8th Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On the 1920 Census, Gabriel is listed as a cousin in the home of Solomon Goodman and Jennie (Nevyas) Goodman in Philadelphia.

Gabriel was a cigar maker in Baltimore and Philadelphia. Raphael Goodman (Baltimore) and Solomon Goodman (Baltimore and Philadelphia) were also in this industry. They all seem to be connected.

He passed away on June 22, 1926 at Allentown Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania and is interred at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery in Philadelphia.
