2. William Neville, of Thornton Bridge, knt, son and heir of William sr. Born say 1445. He married Joan Boynton (contract 1457). They had 2 sons, Ralph and Thomas, and 2 daughters. He was knighted by the future Richard III in 1482. He was dead by May 1484, leaving a will and a widow, Dame Alice, who married Sir Brian Stapleton of Carlton.

Turns out there were 2 successive William Nevilles:

1. William Neville, of Thornton Bridge, esq, son and heir of Sir Alexander Neville jr, born about 1426 (32 in 1458). He had 3 sons, William (knt), Ralph, and Geoffrey, and 2 daughters. He died in 1468/9, leaving a will (York), and was survived by a widow Joan (admon 1479).
