Written in the Family Bible upon Paul Newbern's death by his widow Eliza Elmira Horn. Paul died of cholera at a very young age, leaving Eliza and two small daughters. dianaducroz (originally shared this on 31 Mar 2018): "Paul Newbern departed this life August 16th 1866. And I have no doubt but what he is one of the innumerable company that surrounds God's throne. He had been much afflicted for the last ten years, and his last sickness, although of but four days duration was of intense suffering, but he left us an assurance that all was well, and I feel today that he is forever free from care and solicitude, weariness and pain. Glorious thought but time is short. Soon will this transitory life be gone, then shall my soul its dearer part embrace and stand with him before your glorious throne - EE Newbern."
