Mr. Newberry died on Sat., April 17, 1999, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1914, in Overton County to the late Moses Fate and Amanda Martha Warden Newberry. Mr. Newberry was a retired groundsman with the City of Cookeville Electric Department. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the Smyrna Church of Christ, where he served as Sunday school teacher, Deacon and Elder.
His family includes his wife of more than 65 years, Irene Moore Newberry of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Cheryl Newberry Jr. of Clarksville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Harold and Ella Loftis of Cookeville and Robert and Ovella Loftis of Nashville; a sister, Ina Warden of Livingston; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Banks, Margo Johnson, Teressa Upchurch, Mary Wooten, Sonya Bowman, Dava Whittaker, Stephanie Gilbert, Mike, Gary and Jeff Loftis; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Fate Newberry; and several half brothers and sisters.
Frank was born in 1914. He was the son of Moses Newberry and Amanda Dickerson. He passed away in 1999.
