John was born about 1845 at Holwell, Bedfordshire, the son of Daniel Newbury and Matilda Perkins. [1]
He was living with his widowed mother in Ickleford in 1851 - Matilda Newberry head widow 40 Parish relief b Bexley Kent; Emma Newberry dau 12 Scholar b Ickleford; William Newberry son 8 Scholar b Holwell; John Newberry son 6 b Holwell; Mary Newberry dau 1 b Ickleford.[2]
