Biography
Frederick was born about 1850 and baptised on 7 Mar 1852 at Ickleford, Hertfordshire, the son of Josiah Newberry and Fanny Dear. [1]
In 1851 they were living in Ickleford - Josiah Newberrey head marr 38 ag lab; Fanny Newberrey wife 38;Mary Ann dau 16; Martha dau 14; Eliza Ann dau 9; William son 7; George son 4; Frederick son 1. All b Ickleford.[2]
He married Mary Abigail Bennison on 9 October 1870 at St John's Holloway, Middlesex - Frederick Thomas Newberry 22 father Josiah Newberry & Mary Abigail Bennison 25 father Christopher Bennison surveyor & civil engineer. Witnesses: John Lewin; Mary Ann Lewin (his sister and her husband).[3]
He was living at Montague Villas, Islington St Clement, Middlesex in 1871 - Frederick T Newberry head marr 22 bricklayer's lab b Ickleford; Mary A Newberry wife 23 b Yorkshire.[4]
Mary Abigail died in the June quarter 1874 age 27[5] and he remarried to Sophia Simpkins Larman on 14 Oct 1876 at Ickleford,[6] who died in the September quarter 1879[7].
He was a widower living with his father in Ickleford in 1881- Josiah Newbury head widower 68 ag lab b Ickleford; Thomas F Newbury son widower 31 ag lab b Ickleford; Fanny A Newbury gr dau 10 b London.[8]
He married thirdly on 5 October 1884 at Holy Trinity, Finchley, Sarah Lydia Cassidy -Frederick Thomas Newbury 29 (he lied!) widower father Josiah Newbury excavator & Sarah Lydia Cassidy 21 father Stephen Cassidy stone grinder.[9]
In 1891 he was living at 4 Prospect Place, Finchley - Frederick Newbury head marr 41 lab b Ickleford; Sarah wife 26 b Fetter Lane; Frederick son 6 b Finchley; Elizabeth dau 4 b Finchley; Charles son 3 b Finchley.[10]
In 1901 he was living at 8 Sayers Cottages, Red Lion Hill, Finchley -Frederick T Newbury head marr 50 Gen lab b Hitchin; Sarah L wife 40 b Strand London; Frederick T son 16 b E Finchley; Elizabeth dau 14 b E Finchley; Charles son 14 b E Finchley; George son 10 b E Finchley; Martha dau 7 b E Finchley.[11]
He had moved to 125 Cromwell Rd, Friern Barnet, LMiddlesex in 1911 - F T Newbury h m 63 dealer in old lumber b Ickleford; Mrs F T Newbury wife 50 marr 25 yrs 11 children 10 living b Fleet St Fetter Lane; G Newbury son 21 b E Finchley; May dau 6 Mary 4 both b New Southgate; Joe 14; Ruben 12; Arthur 17 all b E Finchley; (these ages look suspect as none of them appeared in 1901); F Thomas Newbury 27 son marr b E Finchley; Jenny Newbury d in law 19 m 1 yr 0 children, b Stewkley Bucks.[12]
He died age 67 in the March quarter 1914 in Barnet[13]
