Biography

Jolana Emily Newberry was born on June 5, 1852 in Kanesville, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Her parents were James Abram Newberry and Elizabeth Haskins.^[1]

In 1860 they lived in Indian Creek Township, Iowa.

She married Henry Winegar on August 3, 1871 in Pottawattamie county, Iowa.^[2][3] They had thirteen children.

1. Samuel Dexter Winegar was born on April 10 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
2. Alice Winegar was born 1873 in Iowa.
3. James John Winegar was born on January 5, 1875 in Wheeler's Grove, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
4. Emma Winegar was born on October 1, 1876 in Pottawattamie County.
5. George William Winegar was born on January 4, 1878 in Wheeler's Grove.
6. Minnie Winegar was born November 1879 in Pottawattamie County.
7. Stephen Alfred Winegar was born on January 22, 1881 in Wheeler's Grove.
8. Myrtle Viola Winegar was born on November 22, 1882 in Wheeler's Grove.
9. Thomas Heber Winegar was born on April 2, 1885 in Wheeler's Grove.
10. Benjamin Alma Winegar was born on September 28, 1887 in Iowa.
11. Mattie Jane Winegar was born on August 30, 1890 in Iowa.
12. Henry Elvin Winegar was born on March 28, 1892 in Wheeler's Grove.
13. Susan Jolana Winegar was born on February 14, 1894 in Iowa.

In 1880 she lived in Grove, Iowa. In 1900 they lived in Hutton Valley Township, Missouri. In 1910 she lived in Hutton, Missouri as a widow with four of her children and two other children. In 1930 she lived in Blue, Missouri with her daughter.

Jolana passed away at an age of eighty-three on November 29, 1935 in Washington Township, Cedar County, near Humansville. She is buried in Mound Grove Cemetery.^[4][5]
