To date, very little is known about Thomas Newby, supposedly born in South Australia around 1840
It appears during 1860, at age 20, Thomas married Margaret Penman (age 22) in Penola, South Australia, and they had five childen (noted above) - including daughter Louisa, who has a separate detailed profile
Per below Source link, it also appears that a Thomas Newby was in jail for a short period during 1865
It is believed that Thomas died young, some time during the 1980's - while presumably still in his 40's ?
Thus far, the first confirmed record of Thomas is his marriage registration. Also, when his daughter Susan Jane was married in Parramatta in 1890, the newspaper announcement stated that she was the daughter of "the late Thomas Newby, Esq. of Adelaide."
