John (possible). No baptismal record is found but later information strongly suggests that Ralph Newby had a brother John Newby.
Additional notation from Larry Bell information dated 2000: In addition to the William Newby family which arrived in Virginia and North Carolina in the 1680's, there was also a John Newby family. William and John Newby appear to have been related, but not as father and son or as brothers. William's brother John died in Dublin, Ireland in 1691. It appears possible that the John Newby, son of John Newby, could be the John Newby who appeared in the Perquimans area of North Carolina in the 1670's.
Note from Roy C. Leggitt
They were about a hundred miles from each other, but perhaps he is related to Richard Newby, b.a. 1594 whose daughter Ann was one of the Valiant Sixty.
