Born on the 20th of May 1719, Roger Newdigate was the 7th son of Sir Richard Newdigate Bt., by his second wife, Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Roger Twisden Bt., M.P., of Bradbourne in Kent. He was educated at Westminster School and University College, Oxford before spending two years on the Grand Tour. [1]
He succeeded his brother Edward as 5th Baronet Newdigate on the 14th of April 1734 [1] and was first returned to Parliament as member for Middlesex in 1742.
On the 31st of May 1743 he married Sophia Conyers daughter of Edward Conyers of Copt Hall in Essex, [1] and his wife, Matilda Fermor. No children were born of the marriage. [1]
Sophia died on the 9th of July 1774 [1] and on the 3rd of June 1776 at St Martin in Fields, Westminster, Roger married Hester Mundy, [2] daughter of Edward Mundy and his wife, Hester Miller. No children were born of this marriage either. [1]
Roger died childless on the 23rd of November 1806. [1] He was buried at St Mary the Virgin Harefield in Middlesex on the 5th of December. [3]
