- Leannah was born abt. 1781 in Wythe Co. Virginia. She was married to Burrell Lay in 1804.
- Some information has surfaced on Ancestry and Family Tree Circles that Leannah and her 3 brothers and sisters were adopted by Landon P. Newell his wife Mary (Margaret) Coville Newell.
Information says that Leannah's birth parents, John Newell (1752) and Jane Bell Newell, died.

Newell-1552 and Newell-1112 appear to represent the same person because: I believe we have a duplicate here for Leannah Newell. She and Burrell Lay and my GGG grandparents. I think we also have dups in Landon Newell. Please see what you think and merge them if you feel we have dups. Thanks, Ann
