Sarah Jane Newell was born 7 June 1851.

She was the daughter of Andrew Newell and Sarah Livingstone.

Sarah Jane Newell married John Newell (1842-1917)

They have seven children.

1. Catherine Frances Newell born 20 May 1869 known as Kate.

2. Mary Ellen Newell born 7 May 1871.

3. Walter John Newell born 17 June 1873 at Fosterton, near Dungog.

4. Ernest Edward Newell born 29 May 1875. He passed away 25 May 1971 at Brisbane Queensland, unmarried.

5. Arthur Livingstone Newell born 11 November 1883.

6. Jessie Patty Newell born 25 September 1885. She passed away 19 January 1967 in Brisbane, Queensland. She married Leslie Gordon Malcolm Shaw 15 April 1908 at Murwillumbah, NSW.

7. Marth Alice Newell born 12 March 1889 married Walter Randall Reimer 1910 at Murwillumbah and she passed away 18 May 1941 at Grafton, NSW.

SARAH JANE NEWELL The death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Shaw, of Brisbane, on 24th July, of Mrs. Sarah Jane Newell, relict of the late Mr. John Newell, a well-known saddler, who passed away in Taree some 18 years ago. The late Mrs. Newell was 83 years of age, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Newell, of Fosterton in the Dungog district, where the deceased was born. Her father was one of the pioneer settlers of the Williams River. The late Mrs. Newell leaves the following family: Mrs. H. Grace, Newcastle; Mrs. Allan Smith, Castle Hill, Sydney; Mrs. Leslie Shaw, Brisbane; Mrs. Walter Reimer Grafton; Mr. Walter John Newell, Murwillumibah; Mr Ernest Edward Newell, Murwillumbah; Mr. Arthur Newell, Sidebottom. Mr. Andrew Newell, of Dungog, is a brother, and Mrs. W. McCredie, of Cremorne, is a sister. Tho interment took place at Brisbane on Friday last.
