Biography

Richard Newham was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to the Colony of New South Wales

Richard was transported for stealing 3 ewes and 2 lambs from Richard Blanchard. Richard was then married to Mary Simpson and had at least 4 children. He was the son of William Newham and Mary Ellison.

Two years earlier Richard had been convicted of the theft of two quarters of oats and bran at Howden, the property of Robert Dickons, Druggist[1]


Died 2nd Feb 1838. Cartwright Creek, Goulburn N S W, Australia.

Richard was born about 1758.

Neither parent is listed on Richard's death certificate. His age at death is noted as 79 in the field for his father's name. The district of registration is listed as "MC".
