Maria was a spinster and a minor, living in Edgbaston. Parents left out on several marriages. Witnessed by Alice WALL ~ and H WALL [her mark] X.
• 1851 CENSUS: Richard PREEN (head 22) Edge Tool Forger, Hampton Load Sal; Maria PREEN (wife 20) --, Cannock Staffordshire; Catherine [FENN] (visitor widow 68) --, Tamworth Staffordshire. Lived at Icknield Grove, Birmingham.^[1]

• DEATH OF HUSBAND: Richard PREEN died 7 December 1893 at the back of 318 Icknield Port Road. He was aged 64 years and an edge-tool-maker (journeyman). The cause of death was "influenza bronchitis" and the death was reported by Maria PREEN, widow of the deceased, who did not sign.^[9]
