- Essie's headstone reads; "Essie" Ethel May 1919 - 1972. Dearly loved mother of John Blacklock. Essie is buried next to her first husband John "Blackie" Blacklock. So the story goes, on the day after Blackie passed away Essie purchased the plot next to his so that they could be buried together. Essie never stopped loving Blackie. Blackie's headstone reads; "Blackie" John Wellesley 1913 - 1968. Dearly loved father of John Blacklock.
