Biography

Thomas Newport is a part of US Black heritage.

Thomas was the son of Erastus Newport or Erastus Sr. He was born and passed away in 1845 in Warren, Massachusetts.

Confusion in the Records

He was the son of Erastus Newport or Erastus Sr. (I haven't found clarity on this in the records yet.) Mother is an Eliza Ann, but we have records of Erastus Sr. with an Eliza (1860 census) and an Ann (MA Vital Records) and possibly an Eliza Ann (MA Vital Records.) To confuse things even more, there's an Erastus in the MA Vital Records for Warren who passed away in 1845 who is neither the Sr. or Jr. here, both alive and well in 1860 census records.
