May was born December 23, 1890 at Huntsville in Scott County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of James Newport and Elizabeth Sharp. She married Walter R. Paul on December 21, 1932 in Campbell County, Tennessee. She passed away in October of 1977 at LaFollette in Campbell County.
