Biography

Richard was born on April 20, 1836 at Whites Creek in Roane County, Tennessee. He was the son of Asa Newport and Elizabeth Rogers . Asa and Elizabeth Newport lived on the Roane side of White’s Creek, after Elizabeth's parents died ( James and Anna Rogers ) Asa and Elizabeth bought the Rogers farm from the heirs between 1847-1850, they moved to the Rhea side of the creek (White’s Creek is the dividing line between Rhea and Roane counties ). Richard married Mary L Brown on March 20, 1856 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. He worked as a farmer, he passed away around 1865 in Dade, Missouri.
