Biography

Minnesota Newport was born on May 24, 1866 at Horse Bend in Scott County, Tennessee, [1] She was the daughter of Ezekiel Newport and Nancy Smith.[2]

According to the 1880 census, Minnesota lived with her parents and siblings in Scott County, Tennessee.[2]

On February 23, 1888, Minnesota married Joseph Strunk in Scott County, Tennessee. Between 1888 and 1900 Minnesota and Joseph moved to Tomahawk Township in Searcy County, Arkansas. By 1930 they had moved to Prue in Osage County, Oklahoma. Joseph passed away in 1930, Minnesota moved back to Arkansas in 1940.She passed away on May 6, 1950 in Mississippi County, Arkansas.
