Robert Crittenden Newton was a noted lawyer, Colonel of the 5th Arkansas Cavalry Regiment and was acting Brigadier General in command of the Arkansas state troops during the American Civil War. After the war, Newton was appointed Major General in charge of the state militia and then state treasurer.[1]
Son of Thomas Willoughby Newton and Mary Allen. Husband of Cassie Reider.[2] Robert was passed away in 1887. Final resting place in Calvary Cemetery, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas.[3]
