George Newton was born 2 Jan 1808 in Westminster, Middlesex, England to Robinson Newton and Hannah. He was christened at St James, Westminster on 31 Jan 1808.[1]
George Newton, son of Robinson Newton, married Alice Batchelor, daughter of William Batchelor, on 5 Dec 1843 at St Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex.[2][3] The marriage was registered in Brighton in the last quarter of the year.[4]
George and Alice had six children: George Newton (1845-), Sarah Ann (Newton) Punchard (1846-1927), Alice Newton (1848-), Frederick Newton (1850-), Charles Henry Newton (1853-), and William Newton (1856-).
In 1851 George Newton (age 39, Shoe Maker) lived at Tottenham Street in Saint Pancras, Middlesex with his wife Alice (35) and four children: George (6), Sarah A (4), Alice (2), and Frederick (0).[5]
In 1861 George Newton (age 50, Ladies Shoemaker) lived at Frederick Terrace in Brighton with his wife Alice (45, Shoe Binder) and six children: George (17, Ladies Shoemaker), Sarah L (15, Shoe Binder), Alice (12, Scholar), Frederick (10, Scholar), Charles (9, Scholar), and William (5, Scholar).[6]
George Newton passed away in 1864, aged 58 years. His death was registered in Brighton in the second quarter of the year.[7]
