Dana was born 4 Jun 1782, in Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, to Moses and Grace Newton.^[6] per the vital records, he was NOT born to Jonathan and Sibillah Newton as some genealogies have it. ^{[7][8][9][10]}

Dana Newton died 31 October 1835, at age 53, in Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. ^{[11][12][13][14]}

Marriages

A Dana Newton, identified in the Shrewsbury records as "Dana 2d", married Meriam Smith of Barre on 24 Aug 1802,^[16] after they declared their intentions in Shrewsbury on 7 Aug 1802.^[17]

Dana Newton and Meriam Smith reportedly had in Shrewsbury the following children, none of whose births are recorded in Shrewsbury records:^[18] The marriages of Courtland and Candace are recorded in the town records, so they were born somewhere.
